“This record is gonna fuck people up.”

-Josh Reeves

“The Long Countdown” will be out EARLY OCTOBER 2009!

Guess what?!?! The first tracks from my new album, “The Long Countdown” are now up and mastered! Check out “Tune In” and “Centerfold” at my Myspace Page and let me know whatcha think!

Both were recorded, mixed, and mastered by my good friend Josh Reeves of the Global Reality Show. Not only is he a rockin’ talk show host, addressing issues ranging from ancient civilizations, ufos, exo-politics and the methodology of control in our modern society, but he’s a great friend and fellow musician who just happens to love the music enough to inspire badass recording sessions, and then kicks me out of the studio to work incessantly until they’re mixed to perfection. MUCH love and thanks to the entire Reeves family, Jamie, Josh, and Jake, for the many times I have crashed their house with my guitar, wine, and weird conversations. ;)

I am VERY excited about this! Let me know whatchya’ll think about the new songs!

Love,
Delphi

Ophelia’s Wine

Posted in delphi, lyrics, music, song with tags , , , on July 14, 2009 by skyscraped

If love is a foreign legion you have to level
with your hegemonic democratic war machine
I guess it never occurred to you that you might need a back up
a lover to invoke your heartbroken dreams

I’ll sing about the tetrahedral signs you draw
to keep your possessions at bay
but my heart is the Holy Ghost you forgot
when you signed your life away

Dr. Faustus hear me out
Dr. Frankenstein, put your books down
Dr. Jekyll, get out
I’m drinkin’ Ophelia’s wine

If fire is an elemental thing you control
with your nuclear demons inside
wiping out the populations of your soul
while you buy yourself a bit more time

Then my magick is a storm cloud over the sea
raining frogs down in Tokyo
everything’s connected like the web to the tree
you can’t destroy what was created, you know

Dr. Faustus hear me out
Dr. Frankenstein, put your books down
Dr. Jekyll, get out
I’m drinkin’ Ophelia’s wine

Oh, my love
Get on your pale horse
Ride away from here
Oh, my love,
Get on your chariot
Swing low
cause they will eat your fear

Fault Lines

new song, out soon.
Copyright 2009 Cheryl Anderson

Oh, Jimi, why?
Why are there lights
moving my pen
whenever I write
This is the time
Watch the fault lines
They’ll act like our kind
but they’re dead inside

Oh, you know, you know, you know it
Oh, you know, you know

I count 69 spirals inside
216 million points of light
The rose is on fire
in the tower tonight
I’ll give all my love
to carry it right

Carry it, I’ll carry it, sweet chariot
sweet chariot, take me, take me home

Your Mother’s on fire if your darkness is your light
Gonna take a little ride into paradise
got a merman sittin’ shotgun 1983
we got directions from a message given to me
Pay attention, little girl, hold out your hand
said the Devil to the Angel of the Promised Land
Well I’ll never stop lookin’ for the glass in the sand
And I’ll never give my heart to a dying man

You know the fault lines trigger the chorus to descend
You know the fault lines trigger the chorus to descend
You know the fault lines trigger the chorus to descend

The fault lines trigger the chorus to descend
And the words become real if we sing ‘em
You can channel anything, why don’t you then?
All the real ones did, what happened to them?

Call up the sky
ask for a light
‘Scuse me while I
take this ride
back to the beach
where the stars first met me
where the sky is clean
See ya round, Jimi

“But like the solar system is going through a change soon and it’s going to affect the Earth in about 30 years, you know, I am talking about the Earth itself.”

-Jimi Hendrix (San Diego Free Press, June 1969)

The connection between Music and the mysteries of the Universe has always been an intrinsic one. This video lead me to hunt down some articles on artists who have had UFO encounters. Probably the weirdest would be the Jimi Hendrix story related below.

From Alien Rock by Sean Casteel:

Knight told Beckley a remarkable story about Hendrix, an event that happened a few years before Hendrix became the legendary and much beloved guitar hero.

“It was during the wintertime,” Beckley said, “and they were playing a small gig in upstate New York, near Woodstock. This was before the Woodstock Festival, so it has nothing to do with that, except as a point of location. It was not very far from Pinebush, where there’s been a lot of UFO activity in the last few decades.

“Anyway, as I understand it from Curtis,” Beckley continued, “there was a very snowy blizzard and the boys in the band were trying to get back to Manhattan. They got snowed in. It was so cold outside that they couldn’t even open a window. The windows had frozen. They had the engine still running, and the carbon monoxide filled the car. A couple of the other guys passed out in the backseat, but Jimi was still able to breathe apparently, and he claimed that a cone-shaped object landed on the road not far from their vehicle. A door opened on the side of the craft and a being came out. He described it as kind of like a cross between a feathered creature, maybe like Mothman, and an angel.

“This thing drew its wings out and walked around the vehicle, and where it walked, the snow melted. So they were able to get out of the blizzard and get back to New York. Jimi always told Curtis that if it wasn’t for this being coming from the ship, he was sure that they would have all died in that car that night.”

1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)

Hooray, I awake from yesterday
Alive, but the war is here to stay
So my love, Catherina and me,
decide to take our last walk
through the noise to the sea
Not to die but to reborn,
away from lands so battered and torn
Forever, forever

Oh say, can you see
it’s really such a mess
Every inch of Earth is a fighting nest
Giant pencil and lipstick
tube shaped things,
Continue to rain
and cause screaming pain
And the arctic stains from silver blue
to bloody red
as our feet find the sand, and the sea
is straight ahead, straight up ahead

Well it’s too bad THAT our friends,
can’t be with us today
Well it’s too bad

The machine, THAT we built, would never save us, that’s what they say
(That’s why they ain’t coming with us today)
And they also said “it’s impossible for a man to live and breathe under water, forever,”
was their main complaint. And they also threw this in my face, they said:
“Anyway, you know good and well it would be beyond the will of God, and the grace of the King”
(grace of the King … Yeah, yeah)

So my darling and I make love in the sand, to salute the last moment ever on dry land
Our machine, it has done its work, played its part well.
Without a scratch on our bodies and we bid it farewell
Starfish and giant foams greet us with a smile
Before our heads go under we take a last look at the killing noise
Of the out of style, the out of style, out of style (oooh)…

“Right this way,” smiles a mermaid — I can hear Atlantis full of cheer.

Witch’s Apprentice

Posted in delphi, music, poetry, song with tags , , , , , , on June 7, 2009 by skyscraped

I dreamed I was a witch’s apprentice
but she didn’t know my true name
I learned all her spells too quickly for a novice
And it sent her into such a rage

So I ran to you but you were with another
piece of pretty meat on your bed
I cried out but you wouldn’t listen
cause the hair between your fingers it was red, red, red
yeah the hair between your fingers, it was red

I ran to a bar that should’ve been condemned
by the Dream Police ten years ago
A bird headed lady sat next to a Jackal
and they whispered in tones so low:

“Go to the fire, girl, and raise your fist in the air
It’s not too late to know you are alive
Don’t trust the water, and don’t drink the wine
The prettiest things are made of lies, lies, lies
yeah the prettiest things are made of lies.”

So I hopped a train heading out East of Eden
West into the Land of Nod
An old vagabond with the skull of a Thunderbird
emerged from the shadowed boxcar

He looked like hell but said to call him Shakespeare
he knew every line of every play
He spoke in sonnets to the Dark Lady
Who taught him how to hop the dream train
He said:

“Go to the fire, girl, and raise your fist in the air
It’s not too late to know you are alive
Don’t trust the water, and don’t drink the wine
The prettiest things are made of lies, lies, lies
yeah the prettiest things are made of lies.”

I landed in a field of corn people
who’d just woken up from Creation
They couldn’t see but they could still remember
A time when they were not separate

Then the field opened up and the dream came down
We saw a city inside a fiery lake
And the angels of the earth and the fire spirits
All screamed in fits of jealousy

AND I RAN to the fire
And raised my fist in the air
Cause it’s not too late, I know that I’m alive
I won’t drink your water
Or trust your wine
and the pretty things you tell me
they are lies, lies, lies
All the prettiest things are made of lies.

Light in the Belly of the Wheel

Coming mid-summer 2009, title track from upcoming album.

Caught in a tidal wave, a hurricane a’ blowin
Knock me down with one look, and stab me where I’m hurtin’
Pick me up on a nor’easter pirate wind, and the clock is moving faster
and Time Wave’s kicking in
The mathematics of the situation slowly collapsin’
and I am closer to the core of it, but science won’t admit
that we are free, free, free radicals in the atoms of the stars
We will eat up all the earth and move to the pyramids on Mars
where Cydonia is cryin just like New York City did
Just before the Big One baby, now come on and take a hit

Through your third eye projected, am I wrong or am I right?
Is this vision of the future just born out of my mad mind?
Or are we Light, Light, Light in the Belly of the Wheel
Why do you keep your heart inside? The Truth is what you feel

Caught in a dreamscape that I cannot wake from
I see the pattern moving faster and I hear those distant drums
I hear Sitting Bull asking just “Who can own the earth?”
As the Ghost Dance brings up refugees buried in the dirt
And the chorus of the oceans sings a tragic opera
But still the ancient whales forgive, say “Someday you will learn,

That you are Light, Light, Light in the Belly of the Wheel
Why do you keep your heart inside? The Truth is what you feel.”

So I’ll sing, sing, sing until the strings begin to break
and the fire in my lungs turns into an ashen grave
When the bombs go off I’ll be a ghost holding a guitar
and my words will sink into the ground but the story’s in the stars
So come on, lonely ones, and find out who you are
It’s a process of unburying the voice inside your heart.

You are Light, Light, Light, in the Belly of the Wheel
Why do you keep your hurt inside? The Truth is what you feel

We are Light, Light, Light, in the Belly of the Wheel
Why do you keep your heart inside? The Truth is what you feel

We are Light, Light, Light, in the Belly of the Wheel
Come on and SING YOUR HEART tonight, the Truth is what you feel
